Over the last half term, Year 3 have been learning about light and dark in Science. We learned that:
- we need light in order to see things and that dark is the absence of light
- light can be reflected from surfaces
- light from the sun can be dangerous and that there are ways to protect our eyes
- shadows are formed when the light from a light source is blocked by a solid object
Today we have been investigating light and dark and how we can make shadows by blocking the light source. We made characters and props from the story of Little Red Riding Hood out of black card. We set up our theatre and light and found patterns in the way that the size of shadows change by moving the card closer to and further away from the light.
